EREN KESKIN – TURKISH HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER

Amnesty International Group 283 in Sacramento has made a commitment to monitor and support the work of Eren Keskin.

Eren Keskin is a Turkish lawyer and human rights defender.  For many years she has been an advocate for women, children, ethnic minorities and others who are subjected to unjust treatment by their government. She founded the “Legal Assistance Office Against Sexual Harassment and Rape in Detention.” She has received numerous international awards for her peace and human rights efforts 

Eren has been prosecuted more than 100 times for her efforts. She has also been assaulted and had her apartment raided.  Amnesty International urges the Minister of Justice and other Turkish officials to assure that Eren Keskin is safe and free to practice law.
