Women's Rights 2021

Women Lead by Example - Get inspired here:

 PROTECT WOMEN FROM VIOLENCE

Home is not a safe place for everyone. There is an increase in home violence as victims are sheltering in place with their perpetrator during government lockdowns. Let's work together to build safety for domestic/community violence survivors during COVID 19

OCTOBER 2020:  Good News!  Savanah's Act passed in Congress and was signed into law by the President. This bill will provide resources to track and prosecute violence against Native American women.

Women Human Rights Defenders around the world.

All over the world, women human rights defenders speak out against injustice, abuse and discrimination, often because they have experienced it first-hand. They fight for human rights and against patriarchy and racism, while pushing for ground-breaking reforms. Governments must live up to their commitment to ensure these activists can speak and act freely and safely.

Human rights defender Li Qiaochu was taken away by Beijing police on February 16, 2020. Her family and friends have still not discovered where she is being held. They suspect her arrest is related to her activism against gender violence. Write or email for her today

Eren Keskin is a  human rights defender and lawyer in Turkey. For more than thirty years, Eren Keskin has advocated for fundamental rights and freedoms in Turkey, especially for the Kurds, women, the LGBTI+ community., She has been prosecuted and harassed over 100 times by the Turkish government for her efforts. Let her know you have her back. See actions you can take for Eren here..

Women are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response, and yet are being left out. During this crisis, women are more likely to lose jobs, are the caretakers at home, and women’s rights are under direct attack. The relief proposed by Congress is a fraction of what’s needed.
In addition, women of color face compounded harms and challenges including structural inequities, serious health conditions, poverty, food insecurity, lack of insurance, language barriers, deportation and discrimination. Protect Human Rights!

We call on our government to respect, protect and fulfill the human rights of people facing discrimination, marginalization, exclusion, poverty and inadequate medical care, including women, people of color, indigenous people, immigrants, those who are unsheltered or disabled. The government must take concrete, deliberate and targeted actions to protect all individuals from mistreatment and neglect.
